Here is a list of some tangible things that the AMSRS Board and the national office team are doing to assist you and our profession navigate these difficult times.
Updates on COVID-19 from the Government
Updates can be found on the AMSRS website – the latest one summarises the Second Stimulus Package worth $66b and the key points for businesses – boosting cash flow and regulatory protection and financial support for business.
Members running businesses should also check in with their bank websites and read the Covid-19 updates to be aware of the arrangements their bank is putting in place to support people and businesses through the disruption of Covid-19.
Government Relations Activity
The AMSRS has received all the lobbying letters that our strategic association partner MRS recently sent to their government ministers in the UK. We are working with them to ensure we also deliver an effective government relations and communications plan to protect our profession and sector on this side of the globe.
The AMSRS has has partnered with a Canberra based government relations agency that has been successful in setting up Zoom discussions with various state and federal MPs so we will be working with them to get the best outcome for our profession and the broader market sector. We will keep members and partners updated.
AMSRS Members Virtual Catch Ups
In the rapidly changing environment and exceptional circumstances we find ourselves in, AMSRS believes it is important for members to be able to connect with each other and the Society. This could be for a friendly chat, social connection and companionship for people working in physically isolated circumstances, or to share experiences of how members and their organisations are navigating challenges, and to help members support themselves and others. AMSRS would also like suggestions from members as to what support you need at this challenging time. To start the process we plan to host an virtual catch-up on Wednesday 1 April 2020 at 11.30am (AEST) with a view to setting up a weekly virtual catch up. In this session we’ll chat about how AMSRS can help you and whether you would be interested in a regular weekly online catch up and form this should take. For the first catch up please come with your questions - what do you need now and what do you need to know now that will help you and your organisation. We will aim to provide the answers that you need or connect you with other AMSRS members who can help.
We hope you can come along on Wednesday 1st– please register via the event here
If you can’t make this session and have suggestions or questions please send them to either the AMSRS CEO firstname.lastname@example.org or our PD Chair email@example.com
QPR Points Assistance
The AMSRS understands that our decision to cancel the face to face events impacts people counting on gaining QPR points from these activities. To assist our QPR members we will be suspending all QPR points for the 2020 and 2021 round of QPR renewals so that our members can be assured that they can maintain their QPR accreditation during this difficult period. We know you have a lot on your mind and do not need to worry about keeping your diary up to date. We encourage our QPR members to remain current and up to date by accessing our free live and recorded webinars and of course by reading or doing external online learning. To read more about the delays to our events and national conference please refer to our latest edition of ResearchNewsLive https://www.researchnewslive.com.au/
