As Researchers we help our colleagues and clients understand and influence the decisions people make. Yet we live in a world where decisions are becoming harder to make. A world where new technologies provide more information to process so choices become more complex and increasingly these choices are being made in front of a computer screen or on the end of a mobile phone.
So understanding these decisions is becoming more important and the role researchers play more critical. Yet there are unseen forces that guide decision making and this is why the emerging field of Behavioural Economics which seeks to understand these unseen forces has much to offer researchers.
Behavioural Economics shines a light into the world of decision making showing how the many social cues, cognitive and memory biases, as well as the shortcuts people use to process information are known, can be predicted and are used to form frameworks and models which can help us.
Stephen Paton is an experienced researcher who understands the benefits that occur when you adopt Behavioural Economic Principles. He will share insights and experience into what this means for researchers and how you too can incorporate Behavioural Economics learnings into your research toolkit.
