CNG: Free Workshop: “Back Yourself” with Sara Garcia
The Research Society and its Clients Networking Group (CNG) is excited to be offering a free workshop with leading collaboration and communication expert Sara Garcia.
The offer is exclusively available to CNG members and in-house client-side insights and data professionals. This 90 minute session explains why we doubt ourselves and the insidious damage those doubts do. We'll practice proven cognitive behaviour therapy techniques right in the session to help you hack your self-belief system. These are skills you can use for all parts of your life and will be useful right now and in the future.
Presenter - Sara Garcia
She has a background in psychology, a government accreditation for management in the UK, working for Diageo, Nike and Coca-Cola. She’s raised a child alone from day one, crossed the Sahara on the back of a truck and performed on the London stage.
Sara lives to help others discover the fold-out page of their lives in which they discover how much more they have to offer and enjoy when they increase their courage and remove their blinkers.
At your level you should have nothing to prove. You've earned your position and the respect that goes with it. However, some insights leaders tell me they sometimes get frustrated about their role in the organisation, that they are not always recognised as strategic drivers for the business. Restructures can see them moving towards the backroom rather than the boardroom.
DOUBTS NATURALLY SURFACE
In these situations, doubts can surface as to what our role really is and whether we have the clout to get our ideas through the business. And that's where it all comes back to identity and self-belief. Over time we can develop self-limiting beliefs which lead to hesitation, procrastination and Imposter Syndrome. That makes it harder to back yourself and take on challenges and it happens to us all, even world leaders admit to doubting themselves.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO AT WORK IF YOU KNEW YOU COULDN'T FAIL?
Think back to when you first started in this role. Have your aspirations for your role shrunk to fit what you currently think you're capable of or what the business thinks you're entitled to? That's no crime but it is a missed opportunity for fulfilment. You could be selling yourself short.
