QLD AES AND AMSRS JOINT SYMPOSIUM

AMSRS and AES are proud to present our fifth annual joint symposium responding to this issue:

A SPEAKER LINE UP NOT TO BE MISSED

Despite technology advancements making us more connected than ever loneliness and social isolation is recognised as an emerging public health issue…some warn ‘epidemic’.

Government, community and commercial agencies are focused on understanding, evidencing and refining policies, programs and services that can help address the issue. Research and evaluation plays an important role in supporting this.

This event brings together expert speakers to discuss:

*Causes, costs, consequences and the politics of rising social isolation in our society

* Associations between loneliness and poor health and social economic outcomes, and learnings from Queensland Health’s exploration of the mental wellbeing of Queenslanders

* Social marketing strategies to address the social isolation challenge

* Evidence and learnings from local community organisations: Micah’s Hope St Café Enterprise, Relationship  Australia’s National Neighbour Day Campaign, La Boite’s Open Homes project and the work of Islamic Women’s Association of Australia (IWAA)

* Latest worldwide trends on social cohesion and social fragmentation

Who should attend:

This event offers something for passionate people from the public, not‐for‐profit, private and academic sectors, especially those in the areas of:

* Social research and/or evaluation

* Human services government policy, program and service design

* Community service delivery
